Since this past fall, most have experienced the abnormal freezing temperatures produced by the rapidly warming Arctic which has commonly been referred to as the Polar Vortex. These recent weeks have reached below freezing temperatures in all 50 states and some have even hit record lows. Conditions this low have an extreme effect on travel safety. On the other hand, as more people are forced to stay inside other factors such as; disease, fires, and tripping hazards over exposed heater cords has increase.
